Overview
After three years as a patrol officer in the town’s small police precinct, Ryan Eileen has finally landed her dream job. But her first few days as August Vale’s newest detective are far from thrilling and her reluctant partner is doing his best to avoid any sense of camaraderie.
Life in August Vale is peaceful. Though flanked by sprawling “old money” mansions, the heart of the town brims with unpretentious allure: A picturesque setting, nestled in a quiet valley, seemingly insusceptible to the strains and bustle of city life. Crime is low, thanks to a close-knit community, most of which boast rich family history intertwined with the origins of August Vale itself.
But the town holds a secret.
When a string of seemingly unrelated murders tears at a disintegrating mask of perfection, past and present collide to reveal a haunting story that no one wants to talk about.
